YOKO ONO AND GRAPEFRUIT
- conceptual performance art pieces
- fluxus art movement form the 60s-70s emphasising the artist’s process over the finished product
- ‘event score’ readings and performances
- Ono’s event scores read as poems — unlike many others which were made for performance
- natural language and environments/subjects
- dependent on pure imagination
- destroys the idea of ‘monastic thinking’
MOUTHS IN BAROQUE ART
- the mouth can convey multiple emotions at the same time
- brought humanisation to figures in the period — this always conveyed
- adds to the drama and movement/emotional exuberance
- the mouth is interesting to me as it is almost a vessel of life; the thing that is at the forefront of experiences — especially socially
- we talk, eat, love, communicate
- its quite mechanical in structure — teeth and jaw mechanics
- describes ideas of closeness and intimacy through breath and the essence of secrecy
- idea of communication — internally and externally
VIDEO LAYOUT
- tested different backgrounds
- version 1 with black background
- version 2 with shot of mouth with muted volume- conveys more intimacy
- sounds pan from left to right — more spatially aware
- coming together of voices creates some sort of ambience and timing in the speech some rhythm
